How the math works

  • Scaling: each ingredient is multiplied by the number of servings. 1 US fl oz = 29.57 ml.
  • Dilution: a stirred or shaken drink picks up water from melting ice. When you batch ahead, you add that water yourself. We assume about 20% of the drink's volume for stirred drinks and about 25% for shaken drinks. Move the slider to taste.
  • Bitters: we count 1 dash as about 0.8 ml. That's a rough estimate, because dashes vary by bottle.
  • Citrus: fresh juice tastes best the day it's squeezed, so batch citrus drinks close to serving time.
  • Classic specs follow the IBA official recipes (iba-world.com). For batching, we swap the sugar in the Daiquiri (2 bar spoons) and Old Fashioned (1 sugar cube) for simple syrup, at our estimate of 15 ml and 7.5 ml. Adjust to taste.
